Encounter breaks out between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam

An encounter broke out between terrorists and the security forces in Wanpora area of Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district early morning in v hours.

A Police officer told that a joint team of police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation during the night on a specific input of presence of terrorists in Wanpora.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the searching party that was retaliated which triggered an encounter, the police officer added.

Mobile Internet services in the area have been suspended following the encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants and said that input is that two to three militants are believed to be trapped but the actual number can be confirmed once the operation concludes.

An anti-terror operation is being done at war footing this year with more than 70 terrorists have been killed including top commanders and around 22 active terrorists are arrested.
